05 The Workshop · Tipple
This is the accounts payable scrub that runs before an accrual: it takes an open AP population and removes what should not be accrued, stamping a reason on every row that leaves. It runs here, in your browser, on synthetic data generated on this page. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is sent anywhere.
Synthetic population. Every supplier, invoice number and amount below was generated by the seeded random function in this file. No employer's data is here, and none of it has ever left a machine I own.
The order is the intellectual content
Step 3 — already_accounted
The one argument this whole pipeline is about. already_accounted must run before the duplicate check. Move it after and watch what happens — then read the checks.
Type a sentence
Steps 6 and 7 are configuration, not logic — a supplier list and a set of description phrases that change every month and live outside the code. Type one and watch the rows leave, with the reason attached.
Declared gap
Credit memos are not netted against their original invoice. A credit raised in a later period against an invoice in this one will accrue at gross. It is listed here rather than quietly handled, because a gap you know about is a decision and a gap you do not is a defect.
